EATS: Ginger Kumquat Tea

tea

I picked up a pint of kumquat this weekend at the Farmer’s market.  I remember back in my childhood, the warm aroma of ginger honey tea and the refreshing taste of kumquat would always sooth my sore throat and made my cough a little more bearable.  With the flu epidemic going on, I thought I’d come up with a recipe with these two all time favorite Chinese cold and cough remedy: ginger and kumquat!

Ginger Kumquat Tea

Makes 2 servings

 Ingredients:

kumquat

ginger

  •  2 cups purified water
  •  5 ginger slices
  •  10 thinly sliced kumquat
  •  2 Tsp honey

Steps:

  • Bring water to boil on the stove
  • Add ginger, let simmer for 20 min
  • Add kumquat, let simmer for another 5 min
  • Add honey to taste, approximately 2 Tsp
  • Pour this golden deliciousness into a mug
  • Grab a good book and curl up by a lamp
  • Enjoy!

  2. My husband just got a giant jar of kumquat ginger honey jam for making tea and he loves it! Until now I never knew this could be made. I didnt want to ask his coworker for the recipe to post on my blog as its from his work and he likes to keep it separate from personal stuff. So I was very happy to find your recipe! When I get some fruit I hope to make it and share your recipe.
